Alumni Programming

As stated in its mission, Community Partnership School is committed to its students' lifelong success. To that end, CPS offers alumni and their caretakers various forms of support and guidance as they proceed through middle and high school.

Alumni Mentors

Mentors are men and women who are happy to spend some of their free time with a 2011 CPS graduate, patient enough to let their relationship with the graduate develop gradually, dependable enough to meet with the graduate on regular basis, and energetic enough to do fun and rewarding things with the graduate. They offer guidance when asked, but they are also content to simply listen. They are open-minded and flexible, rather than authoritarian. Mentors are not parent substitutes, financial supporters, therapists, or teachers. Above all, they should provide another positive influence—distinct from those of family, teachers, and peers—in a graduate’s life.

Alumni Tutors

Tutors provide academic support where it is needed, from math and science to history and English. They interact with CPS graduates less frequently than do Alumni Mentors, but they are no less committed to ensuring the graduates’ success in middle school.

Parent Ambassadors

Parent Ambassadors are men and women who have seen their own children through secondary school and are willing to share their insights and savvy with our alumni caretakers. From communicating with teachers and administrators to connecting with other caretakers, Parent Ambassadors can answer caretakers' questions and help them navigate the unique organizational structure of their child’s new school.
