This year, a group of CPS students, staff, and families joined together to complete the ADL's three mile Walk Against Hate! The event kicked off with balloons, face paint and snacks before embarking on a beautiful, sunny walk across the Schuykill to help stop bullying and discrimination.
Head of School Eric Jones was a guest on WHYY's "Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane." Along with Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Charter School CEO David Hardy, Mr. Jones discussed the interrelated issues of urban poverty and education and how they relate to the mission of CPS. 
Last Friday, CPS celebrated the graduation of our very first class of fifth graders. This amazing group of students will be continuing on to excellent independent and charter middle schools all over Philadelphia. Click below to learn more about the commencement ceremony.
This year, CPS started a new tradition, Career Day. Our eleven volunteers came to the school to teach second through fifth graders about their jobs, which ranged from interior design to financial planning, medicine to working at the zoo, and speech pathology to playground management!
After months of preparation, the fourth and fifth graders arrived at Philadelphia Reads' 2011 Reading Olympics ready to prove their knowledge. The two CPS teams answered trivia questions about the twenty assigned books, impressing each other and their competitors with dozens of correct answers - and having a blast!
