Before Spring Break, the Philadelphia Orchestra gave CPS students an amazing opportunity to witness the famous ensemble in action! The second through fifth grades attended the Orchestra's School Concert program, hosted by Jamie Bernstein, which featured excerpts from the works of composers such as Beethoven, Stravinsky and Gershwin who have changed the world and inspired others.
Today, CPS 5th graders had an especially wild classroom visitor - a Great Horned Owl, in the flesh! The Audubon Society visited the 5th grade class to teach the students about urban forests and the food chain. A real live Great Horned Owl was the guest of honor as students learned about its unique vision, flight and feathers.
