Students Proudly Display Artwork & Raise Money for CPS

4/30/2010

Last week, Community Partnership School hosted its first-ever Student Art Auction, where guests were blown away by the young, talented artists and their amazing paintings, weavings, puppets and more.

The event was hosted at BNY Mellon, a generous financial supporter of CPS's After School Program, in center city Philadelphia. Barbara Buckman, Vice President at BNY Mellon Wealth Management and Chair of the Grantmaking Committee, welcomed guests and spoke about the partnership between her company and CPS. Ms. Buckman noted how excited BNY Mellon was to become involved with "such an enchanting school."

The hard-working committee transformed the space into a colorful, vibrant art gallery, displaying over 40 pieces of beautifully-framed art by students in grades pre-kindergarten through fourth. To increase income to CPS, the committee also secured donations & sponsorships to support the costs of food & beverage, easels, and framing. Event supporters included: Philadelphia Financial Group, Palladio of Chestnut Hill & BNY Mellon.

Supporters, volunteers, staff, families, and new friends of the school all gathered to bid on the impressive multi-media artwork. Ten student artist ambassadors also attended the event, and proudly introduced themselves to guests, explained their artwork, and told them more about their school and the art program.

The night was extremely successful, raising funds to support CPS's Scholarship Fund, introducing new friends and supporters to the school, and providing an opportunity for students to display their fantastic artwork. Special thanks to everyone who attended, purchased art, made donations & volunteered to make this event so wonderful!
