Recently, CPS received an extremely heavy donation from a very young donor. With parents Billy and Melanie King's help, two-year-old Natane collected over $300 worth of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters for the school!
Natane shows off her box full of change. After her parents explained she would be sharing her change with CPS, Natane helped dump out the several piggy banks she received when she was born. The end result was a box full of loose change, containing over 1,300 pennies, 350 nickels, 600 dimes and 900 quarters, and even a Hong Kong dollar coin that Mr. King picked up while traveling to scout a Chinese basketball player for the '76ers. All of those pennies turned into a generous gift that will help CPS in its goal of providing an affordable, high-quality education to the children of North Philadelphia. The donation is a part of Community Partnership School's new "Change for Change" initiative, which encourages supporters to collect and donate loose change to the school. Natane collected change in a big, red gift box that she received at CPS's "Tale of Despereaux" Premeire fundraiser at the Ambler Theater in December. To follow Natane's example and make a difference at CPS with your loose change, contact the development office at (215)235-0461 or a.mccole@cps-pk5.org.
