Last week, the pre-kindergarten class had the chance to visit an exciting new place they had never been before: the Free Library of Philadelphia's Central Branch. The excited group of four and five-year-olds began their field trip with a visit to the library's H.O.M.E. Page Cafe, which is managed by the Free Library and Project H.O.M.E. The visit was all the more special because one of the employees is a CPS pre-k mom. To welcome the children, she handed out a favorite treat: milk and cookies! Ms. Bailey poses with her daughter on her visit to the library. The pre-k feasts on milk and cookies at the H.O.M.E. Page Cafe. Then, the pre-kindergarteners made their way downstairs to the huge children's book section, where they listened to the librarian read a story about using the library. Afterwards, the children enjoyed browsing through the many offerings and having some personal reading time. Pre-k learns about using the library... and then dives right into some great books! |
