Recently, the CPS second grade class finished an exciting unit on dinosaurs, learning everything from when they lived to what they ate and how we know they existed. Each student wrote a report on a different dinosaur, using both the local library and the internet to research interesting facts about their subjects. Here are a few student samples: Dinosaur Report By: Nasirah The name of my dinosaur is Anklyosaurus. It means “fused stiff or bent lizard”. This is a good name because it is bent down. My dinosaur has an oval shape, tail club, wide skull, and a tiny brain. An Ankylosaurus was 30 feet long. It was an herbivore. That means it ate only plants. Its fossils were found in western North America and Canada. The Anklyosaurus had armored plates and 2 rows of spikes on top of it. It probably was a fierce dinosaur. It used its club tail and armored plates to defend it self. A female Ankylosaurus has babies and she makes her nests for her babies. Ankylosaurus was one of the last armored dinosaurs to live. Even though it was a huge dinosaur it could run fast. I liked learning about the Ankylosaurus. It was fun!!! Dinosaur Report By: Zahir The name of my dinosaur is Brachiosaurus. The meaning of its name is “Arm Lizard.” This is a good name because its neck is long. My dinosaur is about 50 feet tall and 85 feet long. It is an herbivore. Herbivore means it is a plant eater. Its fossils were found in Colorado and Tanzania in the continent of Africa. Brachiosaurus traveled in groups and it was gentle. The Brachiosaurus defended itself by using its tail as a whip. The Brachiosaurus took care of it young by making nests. Brachiosaurus was one the tallest and largest dinosaurs yet found. Its nostrils were on top of his head. Now you know as much as I do about my dinosaur. |
