Another Exciting Community Meeting

10/23/2007

The Community Partnership School's weekly Community Meeting, when all of the grades gather to discuss school issues, share what they've learned, and just get to know each other better, included some special guests from Germantown Academy. October 19th's meeting featured Bridget Flynn, GA's Lower School librarian, and Craig Newberger, the Lower School science teacher.

Ms. Flynn, the students learned, is more than just a librarian: she also has the gift of storytelling. She shared one exciting tale with the children, the story of how a lizard taught a bear how to find his own song. The sudents happily joined in with each refrain.

Mr. Newberger's songs, accompanied by his guitar and the clapping of the children, taught the students about barnyard animals and foods that comes from farms (including ice cream). The students could be heard singing these songs even after Community Meeting ended!

Finally, Ms. Flores, the kindergarten teacher, read out loud the notes that had been left in the Kindness Jar. These notes describe the kind acts people have witnessed at CPS in the previous week. There were many kind people this week, and the students applauded as each act was read. We are all looking forward to hearing more notes from the Kindness Jar at the next Community Meeting this Friday.
