Upcoming Events

What to Expect

As a participant, you will spend the morning (9:30 - 11:30) with Community Partnership School students talking about your career. You will be assigned to a table (a "career station"), then, students in grades 2-5 will separate into small groups and visit different tables of professions they are intersted in learning about. Be prepared to give a child-friendly description of your career. Also be prepared to answers lots of student questions: about what you like best about your job, what you don't like about it, how you got into your career, what education and training you needed to get your job, etc!

What To Bring

Yourself, and any hands-on materials, visual aids, or samples related to your work you can think of! In the past, volunteers have brought stethoscopes, hand-outs, presentation boards, tile samples, books, video cameras, and more.

"But My Job is Boring/Too Complicated/Hard to Understand..."

You don't have to be a movie star in order for students to be interested in learning more about you. CPS students are extremely inquisitive and no matter what your career, they will want to know more!
